Searching for something to criticize, eh?

Barack Obama’s latest TV ad, attacks John McCain for not knowing how to use a computer or send an email.  Watch the ad:

It amazes me that although Sen. Obama has said over and over again that he wants strict debate based upon the issues and not, as he calls it, “swift-boat politics.”  Come on, is he serious with this ad?  It is neither issue-oriented nor substantive.  We keep hearing about this “change” that Sen. Obama is going to bring to Washington.  How is Sen. Obama going to bring this change while using the same old political tactics that have always been used…that’s not change…just more of the same.  Either Sen. Obama is so inexperienced that he just doesn’t understand that the tactics his campaign is using is the same old Washing politics, or he is a hypocrite.  Both seem like pretty big issues for a person who is running to be the leader of the free world.

Why should we care?

On the Drudge Report for the last few days, there have been a number of stories about how the entire world apparently wants Barack Obama as the next U.S. President.  These have been the headlines: “BBC Poll: World wants Obama…” “Russians like Putin and Obama, polls find…” “80% in France…“  My question is this…Why should we care?!?

According to the articles, Sen. Obama has overwhelming approval ratings in other countries…like, apparently that is supposed to rouse undecided voters in the U.S. to vote for him?  Last time I checked, the President of the United States was voted upon by the voters of the United States…and frankly, I could care less if people in other countries like or dislike a U.S. candidate.

The performance of a President should not be based upon his or her rock star status…but upon their fitness to perform the duties of the office.  I guarantee you that the people in those polls have no earthly idea what Obama or McCain actually stand for on policy.  They just know that Obama is a young, African American who talks about hope and pulling out of Iraq.  McCain, on the other hand, is an old white guy who supports U.S. victory in Iraq and therefore they oppose him.

We should elect our leaders based upon what they can do for our country.  Barack Obama advocates loosing the War in Iraq…a war in which we are winning.  John McCain is committed to victory and for the long-term stabilaztion of the region.  It should be a simple choice.

Rep. Cohen (D-TN) calls Obama Jesus, Palin Pilate

Rep. Cohen, a democrat from the Tennessee 9th, compared Sen. Barack Obama to Jesus and Gov. Palin to Pontius Pilate on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today.  Watch it below:

They are getting it!

A recent Ramussen Reports poll came out that said that although the economy is on everyone’s mind during this election season, the majority of respondants said that big government is not the answer.  I don’t think that anyone would argue that there are significant issues facing our economy today and that they need to be addressed.  The prescription for any economic problem is NOT big government and higher taxes.

The Acceptance Speeches

Why we shouldn’t cut and run

For all of those people that think we need to pull out of Iraq, let’s look at the facts.  Since May 2008, the CBS news station in Chicago began keeping record of the number of shooting deaths that occured in their city.  Since then, there have been 123 shooting deaths in Chicago.  Compare that to 65 US troop fatalities in the entire country of Iraq during the same time period.

This just underscores the fact that what we are doing in Iraq is working, the area is stabilizing and for us to leave now would be tradgic to the country’s long-term stability.  This also underscores why John McCain has been right all along with regards to his policy on Iraq and Barack Obama is wrong!

Gov. Palin is my hero

I hope all of you had the opportunity to watch Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech last night at the Republican National Convention.  She gave a sterling performance and as I watched last night, I couldn’t help but think that she very possibly could be the first female President of the United States.  For those of you who didn’t get the opportunity to watch it, check out these highlights.

There are plenty pundits out there who continue to lob insults her way.  The best article I’ve come across so far hailing her praises was from the Sun Times in the UK.

We’re headed to the McCain HQ here in DC in a bit…check back for fun stories from that adventure!
